York Days Celebration July 30-August 7, 2011: Downtown York Beach comes alive for a week mid-summer with festivities that range from parades, craft fairs, road races, softball and golf tournaments and a magnificent fireworks display that you can watch right from our decks! The 19th Annual Christmas in July celebration on Sunday, July 31st, invites summer residents and vacationers to see the Nubble as it appears each year during the Christmas season. A spectacular view from Sohier Park features the keeper’s house and tower entirely outlined in white lights. The Seacoast Wind Ensemble, beginning at 8:00 pm, will provide entertainment. For more info visit http://parksandrec.yorkmaine.org/special%20events.html.
Harvestfest October 15-16, 2011: The area Chamber of Commerce hosts a juried craft fair/food festival in the grounds at the York beach ball field on this fun-filled weekend. For more info, visit: www.gatewaytomaine.org
Lighting of the Nubble: The Annual Lighting of the Nubble is always held the first Saturday after Thanksgiving. This is a fun family evening with a variety of entertainment. Dress warm for this one! We invite you to join as we kick off the holiday season! The event includes traditional Christmas Melodies along with Kiddie Carols - something for the whole family. The United Divers of New Hampshire raise the lighted tree from the ocean, Santa will visit, arriving by way of a York Beach Fire Dept. ladder truck and we’ll count down, together, the seconds before the Lighthouse is lit and adorned in it’s holiday lights. There’s plenty of hot chocolate and cookies for all, so we hope you’ll mark your calendar and plan to join us for this free community event.
